Camilo A. Quiñones
Welcome to the realm of Camilo A. Quiñones, unofficial percussive nerve center of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Raised from an early age on the Afro-Caribbean sounds of the islands, Camilo has followed in the well-established lineage of Quiñones family percussionists, including father Tony Quiñones, uncle Rafael Quiñones, and brother Marc Quiñones. But beyond the family tradition, and as the smoke clears, he’s found himself standing tall on his own: decorated, in-demand, innovative, and on the front line of today’s multi-channeled drum and percussive environment.
Camilo’s musical abilities have earned him the title of Timbalero of the Year three times, as well as a Drummer of the Year title from the New Mexico Musician’s Fund Awards. In addition, his skills have allowed him to perform with the likes of the late, great Tito Puente Sr., Tito Puente Jr., The Allman Brothers Band, Carlos Santana, The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Poncho Sanchez, and many more. Some more of Camilo’s current and recent projects include The B-Side Players, RumbaTronix, and Philly B, and his abilities have even earned him the endorsement of heavy-hitters like Pearl, Remo, and Zildjian. Add Hiptrix to that elite list, and be sure to keep your eyes on Camilo. He’ll be there to show the world what comes next.
