When Chip Wilson seats himself on the drum throne, he becomes an unstoppable sorcerer of innovative, freakishly funkdified rhythm. It’s not so surprising, of course, when you find out that he’s been playing the drums since he was only 5 years old. By age 13, he was playing his way through the night club circuit, establishing himself as an incredibly skilled drummer, artist, and songwriter, and ultimately blazing a path to far bigger and better things.
Over the years Chip has performed live with the likes of Bootsy Collins, Bigg Robb, The Brown Bag Blues Band, The World Class Wreckin’ Cru, George Clinton, Parliament, and currently, Freekbass. He’s played at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland with 5-time Grammy nominee Reggie Calloway, has appeared in several hit videos with Bootsy Collins and the Cincinnati Bengals, and has racked up sought-after endorsements, including the Kelly Shu Mic Mount. If all of that weren’t enough, Chip and Freekbass have also been known to jam for the Cincinnati Reds from time to time. Look out for Chip on the latest Freekbass CD, featuring Mike Gordon, Bernie Worrell, Buckethead, and Bootsy. For more info, visit the official site at www.freekbass.com.
